*We had a wonderful video call over Google Hangouts from Elder Newman. It was so fantastic to hear his voice and see his face as he interacted with each of us. He is happy and working hard and loving his time on his mission. We've attached some pictures taken from our end of the call.

¡Hola mi querida familia y queridos amigos! ¡Feliz Navidad! ¡Me hace felizacísimo (if that's even a word) para hablaros otra vez este día! ¡Ojalá que tuvieráis una Navidad mágica! Yo por supuesto tuve una Navidad perfecta; ¡me hice muy feliz para estar con las personas en Chuy y hablar con mi familia! (Translation: Hello my dear family and dear friends! Merry Christmas! It makes me very happy to talk to you again this day! I wish you had a magical Christmas! I, of course, had a perfect Christmas; I was very happy to be with the people in Chuy and talk to my family!)

Mom, I hope you and the fam had the most wonderful Christmas you can ever imagine. I truly felt your love and the Savior`s love yesterday throughout the day. :) <3

This was an interesting week! We had our Christmas Conference with half the mission this past Tuesday. We had breakfast, talked about using the BoM for doubts and objections, lunch, and a wonderful Christmas section of the devotional. The Spirit was there in rich abundance. This Wednesday we cleaned and reorganized our entire house! It is like a different place now; completely new feel, and the Spirit has been with us more often and fully. We were able to have a charla with Natalya Morais (Nat. 2) and Jeferson (her less-active novio). We put a baptismal date for the 14th of January, but since she didn`t attend church, we have moved it to the 21st. But she has a date! We also shared a beautiful Christmas message with Catia that I have shared with you via audio. She sadly didn`t attend either, and so we had to move her as well. We were not able to meet much with Luis and his family, because they were getting ready to leave for the weekend for relatives in Maldonado. But they are reading and praying still and said they would attend church in Maldonado! We`ll see what happens!

The Noche Buena (Christmas Eve) was amazing for us; we got permission from President Eddy to stay in a member`s house until 22:30 (10:30 PM) and were allowed to be up until 0:30 (12:30 AM) and see the fireworks! So we spent the evening at Waldir`s house, ate, and had a ball. Then we popped some cider bottles on the roof at 0:00 and watch a little bit of fireworks. We then shared our Amigo Secreto gifts with each other until going to bed. On Christmas morning, we had a wonderful Sacrament meeting; Hermano SamPaio and the bishop gave great talks. At 13:00, we had an asado with Eva Rodriguez and all of her children and grand-children, and had cordero (lamb)! ¡Muy rico! (Very Rich!) Then we called our families in the evening (best part of the day) and had a small dinner afterwards with a part-member family. What a wonderful Christmas I had! It was such a blessing to feel the love from my family, the Chuy ward, and my Savior yesterday. I know that He lives and is watching and caring over us in everything we do.

The only problem was that something must not have sat well with me from the food yesterday, because today, I woke up feeling terrible, and have been sick to my stomach. Hoping it passes soon.

Once again, ¡Feliz Navidad! ¡Os quiero! ¡Que tengáis un Nuevo Año buenísimo y que cumpláis con todas vuestras resoluciones! ¡Ciao! (Translation: Merry Christmas! I love you! May you have a terrific New Year and may you fulfill all your resolutions! Ciao!)

Love, Elder Newman
