Callerist! I hope you had so much fun with the Jessops and Newmans! You should ask Mommy about the jungle; there`s a very special story attached to it. (Callie told Jackson we have a picture of the jungle in our entryway—it is a picture of Joseph in the Sacred Grove.) Nice job with the present to Mom. Who`s your Primary Teacher? Well, we have officially spent over U$3000 (U$ is pesos; U$S is US Dollars here) and 30 hours this week in bus travel! On Monday we went to verify my residency (you already know the story) in Montevideo (12 hours); on Wednesday, we returned to Montevideo (12 hours) for Elder Estouco's training as District Leader; and on Thursday night-Friday afternoon, we went to 33 (6 hours) for a zone conference. Crazy! And we will be travelling for 12 hours this week for the Christmas Conference tomorrow! You could say I'm getting sick of buses. Despite all that time lost, however, our investigators have flourished and we have found 6 new people to teach!
Miracles truly happen every day in missionary work. Since I forgot one of them in my voice recordings, I`ll tell you here: Micaela and Paula are a daughter-mom combo that we have taught L1 and invited to be baptized. Micaela was a contact in the streets, and her mom joined us mid-charla with Micaela at their house. Paula is not sure yet about baptism because she is also taking lessons with the Jehovah`s Witnesses, and wants to decide between the two! We`ll see what happens!
Yesterday, we got hit by a massive thunderstorm while proselyting that trumps all the other ones we`ve had! (You`ll see more in my pics, video, and audio) It knocked out all our power, chilled us to the bone, and cut our work day on Sunday real short! (Rainstorms do not stop us, but thunderstorms are sufficiently dangerous that we have to stay in the house of a member, an investigator, or our own house) Quite the experience!
Well, that`s all for this week; I feel the excitement building for Christmas as we get closer! ¡Os quiero mucho! ¡Que Dios esté para siempre con vosotros!, y ¡que tengáis una increíble y segura Navidad! ¡Ciao! Mom’s Questions:
1. Are you noticing any different routines or things you are doing with Elder Estouco?
Our charlas have been a lot briefer, we've been using the Book of Mormon a lot more in contacts. These are the ones I've noticed. Also, our planners are much more filled with investigators and back-up plans.
2. Are you still thinking you’ll call Christmas day around 5:00 our time? Make sure you let us know if things have changed from what you told us last week so we can be ready.
Thinking on Daylight Savings in Utah, it`ll be about 3:00 PM your time, 7:00 PM or 19:00 our time. Will notify you if anything changes
3. What is the other new Elder like?
Elder Anampa is a funny, goofy Elder who is already an amazing teacher and very dedicated to the work! Great add for Chuy!
4. Any new foods you’re learning to make now that you’re with all Latins?
Fried chicken tacos with vinagrette: mixed peppers, tomatoes, and onions soaked in vinagrette. Awesome!
5. How are your investigators? Has it improved with a Brazilian companion?
They are progressing very well and we have many more! Things have definitely improved; Elder Estouco and I are a great team!
6. Any more packages make it to you?
Yup! Christmas package form Grandma and the Spuds Birthday letters!
